G-dragon releasing new songs is like Christmas coming early 🙂 To say I like GD will be an understatement as he is my ultimate bias. I absolutely adore this man, but there is always something about him releasing solo album that makes me nervous. Don’t get me wrong, he makes beautiful music but somehow his solo songs I have found are too edgy for my liking . I feel his style softens more with Bigbang. Gd has released two songs, first being ‘One of a kind’ and today ‘That XX’. 

When I first saw ‘One of a kind’ mv, I will be honest, it was not love at first sight. I just didn’t get it, the whole bear, running around in tennis gear thing. Mind you, I loved the dance but that was about it. But then I looked at the lyrics and the mv made absolute sense. Behind all that razzle and dazzle of costumes, there was a depth to the song. He owned the lyrics and you should check it out. But I am here to review ‘That XX’

Now this song ‘That XX’ that is, I loved it! The second, the song started with the acoustic sound, I was sold.  This song gave me a ‘Butterfly’ feel. Jiyoung is more of a rapper and to hear him sing is a real pleasure. The melody and his voice soothes you. This song is about a guy(A) who loves a girl(B) but the girl loves another guy(C). Gd has played both guy roles and both have distinct character. While guy A looks kinder and wears mellow clothes, guy B is edgier with all his tattoos, piercings and abundance of gold rings! 

This is kind of a plea made by Guy A to the girl, as he thinks she is so blinded by love, she doesn’t see that Guy B is a jerk who plays around and breaks heart. The message in short is, ‘Come back to your sense girl, that ****er doesn’t deserve you, I am so much better than him and you don’t see that’. Infact the XX means something like a ‘bastard’.  

Now I saw comments made by fellow vip’s and some were saying that the beeping sound was too distracting or annoying. But me, I didn’t mind at all, in fact I think the beep put more of an impact,more of a hatred feel. I would love to hear the swearing though! Having said that, the ‘Baie Bee’ after the 2:40 mark gave me the creepy crawlies. That’s the only complain from the whole song. The girl I believe is going to be part of a new girl group from YG. I think she is absolutely gorgeous although she needs to improve her acting more but then again she isn’t even a rookie yet. I am really looking forward to her début and rooting for her!

Lastly I can’t wait for Jiyoung to perform in music banks, he is going to nail it!

Hello Guys!!

How have you been doing? Meeting after such a long time eh? 🙂 Sorry but I have been a lot more busy these few months and it is not going to stop as I have much more commitments and they are long-term ones. So I won’t be able to do that many blogs but will do them nonetheless when I can.

So this time around I have come with a peace-offering in the form of an awesome song. It’s time for the Wonder Girls who had a comeback after some years which is very exciting news . They don’t need any introduction (if you don’t know them then you must have lived under a rock this whole time). But for those who are new to k-pop, they might do with one so here it goes.Wonder girls are a south-Korean girl group under JYP entertainment (one of the big three talent agency). They debuted in 2007 and have 5 members who have had many single hits like Nobody,Tell me, So hot and so on.

This latest song by them is ‘Be my baby’. As the title suggests, it is a song about a girl asking the person she is  in love with to accept her love. The song in itself is very unique and cute to begin with because  rarely do we find upbeat love songs about girls asking a guy to accept her heart. So these upbeat and Christmas-y music, pleading  yet cute lyrics & simple yet elegant funky dance moves makes for the perfect love song to listen, sing,enjoy and dance along to. So girls if you are eyeing on your crush why not use this one as inspiration? Might as well give it a try, what have you got to lose? 😉 No-don’t answer that!

Having said all these, I want to add few things. Was it just me or did you also had déjà vu when you saw the mv? Every time I watch it I get hallucinations of ‘Single ladies by Beyoncé’ (not that I am complaining ). Another thing I noticed is that this time the focus were mainly on Sohee & Hyerim while Yubin, Sunye and Yeeun took the back sit. Must say it was a very good strategy of the JYP team because Hyerim being new in comparison to all the other members she got the opportunity to show what she’s got to offer and showed she did with flying colours (Well done Hyerim).

But the most surprising thing about this whole comeback for me personally was Sohee. All these time, I always got the feeling that in comparison to her members she didn’t like to shine that much.But on this mv ‘Oh My Days’ is all have I got to say about her. During the length of the mv, I had my jaws dropped on the floor and couldn’t take my eyes off her. Never thought she had it in her to be this charismatic and cute. Loved her little solo cute dance and I am now a Sohee convert.

All in all, a very unique and awesome song.Loved it to bits. Here’s to hoping WG get the all-perfect kill. Finger crossed!

Hey Readers

It’s been exactly 1 month since the last musical note so how about a new one eh? To be honest, I had found this awesome song few months ago but was too lazy to put it up but it’s time has finally come. 🙂

This immensely awesome song is by Verbal Jint (never heard of the name? Don’t worry you are on the same boat). I stumbled upon Verbal Jint by accident (lots of good things happen by accident ;)) and instantly loved the song. It’s sad that many of us k-song lovers don’t know about him, I guess he is overshadowed by idols but his rap has so much groove, the idols have got nothing on him. Time for some background info on Verbal Jint: His real name is Kim Jin Tae under the record label ‘Brand new stardom’ (oooh fancy). The début was on 2001 so he is not a rookie at all  and is known as ‘king of flow’ (listen to his songs and you will know and agree why).

The song is called ‘You look good’ ft Black skirt. Don’t forget to turn the cc button for the English sub and let this beautiful song hypnotize you. Don’t you just love the lyrics,beats and the flowing rap? Man, gotta say this is one heck of a song! Plus I just love singing along to the chorus. The mv is of great quality, the actors did justice to the story and everything but was it only me or did you also had a mini heart attack when the girl got hit by the car? Don’t know what to say about the Koreans, when they are not getting killed by pineapples, they get run over by car. Tsk Tsk such a way to die. All in all Verbal Jint is one awesome rapper who makes great music so listen to other songs by him too and don’t forget to spread the love around.
